7 Questions to Ask Before You Buy a Thin Client

1. Does it make noise when it's on?

Yes?  Then be careful.  Some thin clients have internal moving parts, like fans, that can wear out and break, requiring replacement.

Symbio thin client terminals are 100% solid-state, and have no internal moving parts.

2. Does it feel warm when it's on?

Yes?  Then be careful.  Some thin clients require power-hungry high-end CPUs that generate a lot of heat, causing premature failure.

Symbio thin client terminals use environmentally-friendly, cooler CPUs, to keep all the processing where it should be - on your servers.

3. Does it have an embedded operating system?

Yes?  Then be careful.  Some thin clients have embedded software that can become corrupted or outdated, requiring excessive management and upgrading.

Symbio thin client terminals are diskless, with no embedded software.

4. Do you need to buy software to manage it?

Yes? Then be careful.  Some thin clients are still very complex, requiring separate management software at additional cost to keep them under control.

Symbio thin client terminals are "stateless", and don't need extra layers of software to keep them managed.

5.  Is it too big to be mounted under a desk?

Yes?  Then be careful.  Some thin clients are very large, larger than even some PCs, limiting their mounting options.

Symbio thin client terminals are just six inches high, the smallest thin clients available, flexible enough to mount under a desk, behind a monitor, or just about anywhere out of sight.

6.   Does it choke running audio and video?

Yes?  Then be careful.  Some thin clients simply get overwhelmed when running audio and video; some can't run them at all.

Symbio thin client terminals are the most powerful thin clients available, and deliver full support for audio and video.

7. Does it only come with a three-year warranty (or less)?

Yes?  Then be REALLY careful.  Some thin clients are designed with built-in obsolescence, and are not made to last.

Symbio thin client terminals are all offered with five-year warranties.

If you answered "yes" to three or more questions, then now is the time to consider Symbio thin client terminals.
